SDG # 11 - Sustainable Cities
Sustainable Cities and Communities
11.1.1: Proportion of urban population living in slums, informal settlements or inadequate housing
This indicator measures the proportion of people living in urban areas who are living in slums, informal settlements, or housing that is inadequate. These areas often lack basic services like running water and sanitation, and may be overcrowded or unsafe.
11.2.1: Proportion of the population that has convenient access to public transport, by sex, age and persons with disabilities
This indicator measures the proportion of the population that has convenient access to public transportation. It takes into account factors such as the availability of public transportation, its cost, and the accessibility of the transportation systems for different groups of people, such as women, children, and persons with disabilities.
11.3.1: Number of countries with a policy and legal framework to promote sustainable urban development
This indicator measures the number of countries that have established a policy and legal framework to promote sustainable urban development. A country with a strong policy and legal framework for sustainable urban development is better equipped to address the challenges of rapid urbanization, such as inadequate housing and infrastructure, and increased air and water pollution.
11.4: Number of people living in informal settlements as a proportion of the urban population
This indicator measures the proportion of people living in informal settlements, also known as slums, within the urban population. Informal settlements are characterized by inadequate housing and living conditions, such as overcrowding, lack of access to basic services, and limited security of tenure. This indicator is used to track progress towards ensuring access to adequate housing for all and reducing the number of people living in slums.
11.5: Proportion of the urban population living in slums, informal settlements or inadequate housing
This indicator measures the proportion of the urban population living in slums, informal settlements or inadequate housing. It is similar to Indicator 11.4, but measures the overall percentage of people in urban areas affected by inadequate housing conditions. This indicator is used to track progress towards ensuring access to adequate housing for all and reducing the number of people living in slums.
11.6.1: Proportion of the total population who live in cities and human settlements that are safe, resilient, and sustainable
This indicator measures the proportion of the total population that live in cities and human settlements that are safe, resilient, and sustainable. Safe and sustainable cities and human settlements are those that are able to withstand natural disasters and provide their residents with access to basic services and infrastructure, such as clean water, sanitation, and electricity.
11.7.1: Proportion of total area covered by green spaces in cities and human settlements
This indicator measures the proportion of the total area covered by green spaces in cities and human settlements. Green spaces are areas that are covered by vegetation, parks, or other forms of nature, and they provide important benefits such as clean air, improved mental health, and increased biodiversity.
