SDG # 12 - Sustainable Consumption

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

  • 12.1: Proportion of total waste generation, disaggregated by material type, that is recycled or composted

    • This indicator measures the proportion of total waste generated (broken down by type of material) that is recycled or composted. It provides an overview of the effectiveness of waste management practices and the proportion of waste that is being kept out of landfills and reused.

  • 12.2: Proportion of municipal solid waste that is managed in an environmentally sound manner

    • This indicator measures the proportion of municipal solid waste that is managed in a way that is safe for both the environment and human health. It evaluates the quality of waste management practices and the extent to which waste is disposed of in a manner that minimizes harm to the environment and public health.

  • 12.3: Material footprint, material consumption per capita and domestic material consumption

    • This indicator measures the material consumption per capita and domestic material consumption, providing an overview of the total amount of materials used by individuals and society as a whole. It helps to identify trends in material consumption and the extent to which the consumption of materials is sustainable.

  • 12.4: Direct and indirect economic impacts of unsustainable consumption and production patterns

    • This indicator measures the economic impacts of unsustainable consumption and production patterns, including both direct impacts (such as reduced competitiveness) and indirect impacts (such as resource depletion). It provides insights into the economic costs of unsustainable consumption and production practices and the benefits of adopting more sustainable practices.

  • 12.5: Proportion of total water withdrawal that is sustainably managed

    • This indicator measures the proportion of total water withdrawal that is sustainably managed. It provides an overview of the management of water resources and the extent to which water is being withdrawn in a way that is sustainable over the long term.

  • 12.6: Proportion of fish stocks within biologically sustainable levels

    • This indicator measures the proportion of fish stocks that are within biologically sustainable levels. It provides an overview of the health of fish stocks and the extent to which they are being harvested in a manner that is sustainable over the long term.

  • 12.7: Proportion of national land area covered by forest, by type of forest and change in forest area

    • This indicator measures the proportion of national land area covered by forests, broken down by type of forest, and the change in forest area. It provides an overview of the extent of forest cover and the trend in forest loss or gain over time.

  • 12.8: Proportion of land that is degraded, and the trend in land degradation neutrality

    • This indicator measures the proportion of land that is degraded and the trend in land degradation neutrality. It provides an overview of the extent of land degradation and the trend in efforts to reduce or reverse this degradation over time.
